Step 1: Design & Digital Preparation

Every patch starts with a design. Whether it's a custom order with your logo and text or one of our signature designs, we prepare the artwork digitally to ensure it translates perfectly to laser engraving.

Our design process includes:

• Vector conversion for clean, scalable graphics
• Color matching to our leatherette material palette
• Size optimization for readability and detail retention
• Proof approval for custom orders

Step 2: Backing Application

Depending on the patch type, we apply the appropriate backing to our prepped materials:

• Hook backing (Velcro): Industrial-grade hook material is adhered to the back, ensuring a strong bond that won't separate over time
• Iron-on backing: Heat-activated adhesive is applied for permanent fabric attachment

We use only premium backing materials that are tested for durability and performance in real-world conditions.

Step 3: Precision Laser Engraving

This is where the magic happens. Our laser engraving system uses focused light to etch designs directly into the leatherette surface. Unlike printing or embroidery, laser engraving is permanent—it won't peel, fade, or wash away.

The laser engraving process:

• Material is loaded onto the laser bed and secured flat
• The laser head traces the design with pinpoint accuracy
• Heat from the laser vaporizes the top layer, creating contrast and depth
• Fine details, text, and intricate graphics are rendered with precision
• Each patch is monitored throughout the process to ensure quality

Our laser settings are calibrated for each material type and color, ensuring consistent results every time. We can achieve detail down to 0.060mm—perfect for small text, fine lines, and complex logos.

Step 4: Cutting & Finishing

Once the design is engraved, each patch is precisely cut to size. We use a combination of laser cutting and manual finishing techniques depending on the patch style:

• Standard shapes: Laser-cut for perfect edges and consistency
• Custom shapes: Hand-finished for unique silhouettes and contours
• Edge sealing: Heat-treated edges prevent fraying and add durability

Every patch is inspected at this stage to ensure clean cuts, smooth edges, and proper dimensions.

Step 5: Quality Control

Before any patch leaves our shop, it goes through a rigorous quality control process:

• Visual inspection: Checking for engraving clarity, color consistency, and finish quality
• Dimensional accuracy: Verifying size and shape meet specifications
• Backing adhesion test: Ensuring hook or adhesive backing is securely attached
• Edge inspection: Confirming clean cuts and sealed edges
• Final approval: Every patch is personally reviewed before packaging

If a patch doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't ship. Period.

Step 6: Packaging & Shipping

Approved patches are carefully packaged to protect them during transit. Custom orders include any special packaging or presentation requested by the customer. We ship from our Las Vegas facility, typically within 1-3 business days for in-stock items.
